The shop knitter thoroughly enjoyed a mitt-a-paloosa week, choosing different yarns, colours and styles for Lavinia and Abigail to wear. Some stockings were also produced in between sewing up the new mitts, with one pair put aside especially for Armand when he is ready.

Thrifted yarn was used for all the items. Many notes were made to describe how gauge and rows were changed for different yarns. Figuring those things out is considered the knit specialists type of fun?!

The lovely teal mitts are labelled for Abigail. Her new short gown and quilted petticoat will appear in the gallery soon. Abigail chose the mitts herself and wants to show them off.

Since the shop was in an accessories mood, the cutter prepared some handkerchiefs to be hand finished. The orange handkerchief is cut from a placemat, the cream is half an old hanky and the Indian cotton is from an actual thrifted scarf. All the patterns and lace are just the right scale. Since some are cut on the bias, that edge will only be folded for a nice edge. The finer cotton scarf needs some hand rolling, since the fabric continues to fray. The border on the orange scarf will be turned and stitched too. So the accessories department will be busy for a bit.

The shop now proudly owns a hand drill with lots of bits, as well as a rotary tool for fine work. The boss, with help from her carpenter husband, made some fabulous doll stands. These will feature in a blog when the sanding and varnishing is complete.

Shoes are back on the agenda, with the boss anxious to try out the rotary tools. But first the cordwainer needs to figure out where the designer put the shoe fabrics. A lovely vintage trim pack from The Dollshouse Draper on Etsy was added to the cordwainer's stock to make her feel better. See the seller's info in the internet resource section.

Abigail insists on modelling some more mitts. She will have to share eventually.
